 EQUAL
A Bakers Mountain Story

Equal.jpg

In the summer of 1959, the United States is racing Russia to land a rocket on the moon, school districts across the South are struggling with the issue of racial integration, and Jackie Honeycutt just wants to win a blue ribbon for his 4-H dairy cow.

But Jackie discovers weightier concerns one Sunday afternoon when he bumps into Thomas Freeman fishing at the river. At first the two of them seem to hit it off. However, with time, Jackie learns the friendship will be more complicated than he imagined.

As Jackie's awareness grows, so does his need to speak up for racial justice. But doing so creates its own challenges and forces him to face his own injustice.

Equal is the fifth and final installment in Bakers Mountain Stories. Other books include AIM, BLUE, COMFORT, and DRIVE.
